1st June 2007 Location: Sutton Bonington. N52:49:15 W1:15:48 (help) We woke up this morning to sunshine – almost forgotten what the sun looks like!!! Took the dogs for a walk around the Lake Mead park beside our mooring. A lovely place. Pulled the pins and headed north. At the first lock we met up with NB Fair-fa. The lady off the boat, Sheila, was chatting with Ron and it turned out that they both came from the same area in Scotland and both had friends in common, it’s a very small world. It turns out that Sheila and her husband Pat moved onto their boat seven years ago and have not looked back. They described their experience as every day being like a holiday. We continued north with Fair-fa until Barrow Upon Soar where we stopped to pick up some bits and pieces in the village and to have lunch. Fair-fa were continuing on to Loughborough as they were wanting to go into the town to do a big shop. After lunch, we continued north, passing Fair-fa on the way, finally mooring up near Sutton Bonington. This is a lovely isolated stretch of the river and the dogs can have some freedom to run in the early morning and late evening. We lit the BBQ and had a nice meal and a couple of glasses of wine to end another very busy day (9 lock over 14 miles). Going to rest up for a day or two as this is a lovely spot. Ron with the dogs at Watermead Park We were being watched as we passed under the bridge Church at Normanton on Soar Moored near Sutton Bonington
