Wednesday 11th July 2007 Location: Alvechurch, Worcs N52:20:60 W1:58:15 (help) Today: 7 miles, 36 locks. Total distance: 216 miles. Total locks: 206 Warm and some sunny spells. Another busy day today, not many miles but lots of locks. We set off at around 08:30 as we were up and about and we wanted to get to Alvechurch today so that Rhonda can catch a train tomorrow. We worked our way up the Tardebigge flight, it was hard work but enjoyable and the scenery is wonderful. The paddles on the top gate are very hard work to raise and all of the locks are fairly deep at around seven feet. We arrived at Alvechurch mid afternoon and walked into town to get the paper etc. There is a co-op in the village plus a post office and a fish and chip shop. It’s a nice little village, mostly housing. We had a look at the train station, it is only a matter of yards away from the canal. It is an un-manned station but you can buy tickets on the train. The Boat and Railway, Stoke Works, good food. Tardebigge locks Rhonda with the dogs between locks
