Ten Bob Note

Friday 17th August 2007

Location: Polesworth, Warwicks

Today: 9 miles, 2 locks. Total distance: 427 miles.  Total locks: 370

Cloudy with sunny spells. Good t-mobile 3g reception here.

Stayed on at Hopwas yesterday to do some washing and hoovering etc.

After walking to the local shop to get the papers this morning we pulled the pins and headed on south and east around Tamworth to Polesworth.  Stopped off at Fazeley junction to take on water.

It took over an hour to get through the two locks at Tamworth, even with a BW lock keeper on hand helping out. Both locks are very slow to fill and there were queues of around 5 boats heading each way.

Moored up around 14:30 and walked into the village with the dogs for a look around. There is a Spar, a butcher shop, a fruit and veg shop and several hair dressers. A nice little village with a nice park. Will pop back tomorrow to get the papers.

So far, the Coventry canal has been very pleasant with lots of countryside. Would definitely come this way again.
