Thursday 23rd August 2007 Location: Snarestone, Leicestershire Today: 9 miles, 0 locks. Total distance: 464 miles. Total locks: 381 Warm and sunny. Reasonable t-mobile GPRS reception here. Walked up to Market Bosworth to get the papers and a few odds and ends. Picked up some sausages and rib-eye steak from the butchers. Pulled the pins and headed for bridge 47 to meet with the guys from Kinver at 10:30. Ian and Pete turned up on time again and spent a good couple of hours fitting the pram hood. They have done an excellent job and we are well pleased with it. We now have an extra room for taking off wet coats and boots and cleaning up the dogs before entering the boat when the weather is bad. All in all, it has been a great pleasure dealing with Wilson’s of Kinver and we would have no hesitation in recommending them to others. They did every thing they said they would do (and more) and they did it when they said they would do it – almost a novelty in this day and age!! Now that the pram hood is fitted, we don’t expect to see any rain for quite some time. After the pram hood fitting, we headed on up to the and of the Ashby passing through some lovely countryside – see photos below. To think that I gave up work at the tender age of 51 to spend my days having to look at scenery like this – did I do the right thing ??? After the pram hood fitting, we headed on up to the and of the Ashby passing through some lovely countryside – see photos below. We took on water at the water point, turned around and headed a mile or so south and moored up at a lovely spot for the night. We fired up the BBQ and cooked the sausages and rib-eye that we bought from the local butcher in Market Bosworth – lovely. We will be calling into the butcher on the way past to pick up some more of his wares!!
