Wednesday 12th September 2007 Location: Adderbury, Oxfordshire, Oxford canal Today: 6 miles, 2 locks. Total distance: 560 miles. Total locks: 410 Mild, sunny spells. Good t-mobile GPRS reception here (had 3g yesterday, only GPRS today ??) We walked into Kings Sutton this morning as mentioned on the previous page. On return from the village, we pulled the pins and headed south to the closest winding hole so that we could turn around to face the Banbury direction as we will need to return to Banbury for the train station and for water etc. We are now moored back in almost the same spot as last night. It’s lovely and peaceful here with nice views across the fields. For the next week or so, we will be hovering around the Banbury area so that we can get Rhonda to the train station as soon as she is called for. Thursday 13th Walked with the dogs into Adderbury, just over 4 miles round trip. The older part of the village, West Adderbury is lovely with lots of old buildings, well worth the visit. Some photos below. The shop in Adderbury (beside the church) has a butcher’s counter which sells local meats. Picked up some of their pork chops and home made sausages. Stopping on here for another night or until the water tank needs re-filling. Current mooring Adderbury The village school The village shop - also a butcher shop The Rookery |
