27th June 2007 Location: Stourport, Worcs N52:19:15 W2:15:52 Today: 0 miles, 0 locks. Total distance: 185 miles. Total locks: 146 Nothing much to report today. Walked into Stourport in the morning for papers and milk etc. The water level has only dropped by 6 inches and more rain is forecast. Will be here for a while yet.
28th June 2007 The water has dropped by about a foot. Will be here for a bit longer!! Tiled around the stove - glad that it is over and done with - photo below.
29th June We spoke to the lock keeper again this morning, he said the water level dropped 8 inches in the last 24 hours and if it kept dropping at the same rate, he would be open for business next Tuesday. The lock keeper also told us that they are expecting another two inches of rain over the weekend and if it does rain that much, it could be another week before he opens the lock to traffic. Changed generator oil at 100 hours on the meter. Next change at 200 hours. (I keep a log of such boring stuff on this site as I can search the site to find out when things were done).
30th June Walked into Stourport this morning with the dogs to get the papers etc. Got soaked through on the way back. The weather forecast was right about the rain over the weekend. The water level is now only two feet eight inches above normal according to the lock keeper. The problem now is that there has been more heavy rain so it is likely that the level will rise again over the next 24 hours or so. The current outlook is that we will be here for at least another couple of days but possibly longer if Wales gets a lot of rain as expected. Tiling now complete Getting very fond of this pontoon!!
