Thursday 2nd August 2007 Location: Cheddleton Heath - nr Leek, Staffs Today: 7 miles, 4 lock. Total distance: 333 miles. Total locks: 301 Warm and sunny in the morning, sunny spells in the afternoon. Went out last night for a meal at the Old Hollybush in Stockton Brook. All in all it was OK but a bit expensive for what it was, would not eat there again. Headed up through the four locks at Stockton Brook this morning past an interesting old pump house building. When we came to the junction with the Leek branch we turned off and headed all the way to the end of the branch before turning and mooring in a lovely spot for the night. All in all, the scenery along the Caldon has been among some of the best we have come across, it is beautiful. The canal is very narrow and shallow in places but it is well worth visiting. Had a phone call from Wilson's of Kinver this morning about the pram hood. They are coming out on Monday morning to fit the frame and to measuer up for the covers. Will have to find a suitable bridge to meet them at. Old pump house at Stockton Brook Caldon scenery Caldon scenery
