Thursday 19th February 2009 Location: Napton, Warwickshire, Oxford Canal Today: 9 miles, 9 locks. Total distance: 1976 miles. Total locks: 1358 I had a surprise phone call from my sister in Wiltshire last night that required me to be in Napton today. As I had a journey of nine miles and nine locks ahead of me, I decided that I had better set off early if I wanted to make Napton in time to find a reasonable mooring spot as Napton can get quite busy during school holiday periods. As I was awake early, I pulled the pins at 06:00 and set off in the dark. As luck would have it, every lock in the Napton flight was against me as they all leak so were all empty when I arrived at them. Still, I didn’t do too bad for time as I reached the visitor’s moorings in Napton and was all moored up by 12:30. As it turns out, I am moored up right behind nb Lazy Days, we last crossed paths at Cropredy last Saturday. After mooring, I had a quick walk up to the shop in the village with Archie to pick up a few odds and ends. It has been a lovely day weather wise, very mild and the sun even came out for a short while. Spring is on it’s way – famous last words. Current Mooring
