Ten Bob Note

Monday 13th April 2009

Location: Aynho, Northamptonshire, South Oxford Canal

Today: 4 miles, 3 locks. Total distance: 2060 miles.  Total locks: 1390

A much better day today weather wise, warm and sunny.

Pulled the pins around 10:30 and joined the queue of 3 other boats at Kings Sutton lock. It’s been a good while since I have had to queue at a lock, summer must be on the way……

Headed on down to Aynho, stopping at Aynho Wharf to take on water and to buy a cylinder of gas. The lady that served me informed me that gas prices had dropped as of today with a 13kg cylinder being £0.65 cheaper than it has been of late. Amazing to actually see the price of something falling.

Went for a nice walk this afternoon. A very pleasant 6.5 mile round trip taking in Aynho and Souldern villages – GPS track here, some photos below.

Passed nb Matilda Rose just below Aynho Weir lock, managed a quick hello to Jill and Graham and grabbed a quick photo in passing - see below.

Walked up the hill to the village of Deddington, a nice village and well worth a visit. The village is a 5.5 mile round trip walk from the canal. Some photos below
