About turn today. A phone call to British Waterways confirmed that our trip to Leeds along the Liverpool & Leeds canal could be risky. The water levels are low and restrictions that are already in place are only likely to get worse. We don’t fancy the idea of being stuck somewhere on the L&L for goodness knows how long if the canal were to get totally closed. A bit disappointing but such is life.
We carried on along the Trent & Mersey to take a look at the Anderton boat lift before turning around and heading back south again. We don’t have a ‘Plan-B’ as yet but I am sure we will think of one over the next day or so. We will turn off the T&M and on to the Shropshire Union canal tomorrow as we don’t fancy going back the way we just came.
