Ten Bob Note

7th June 2007

Location: Branston, Staffs.   N52:47:13 W1:40:53

Today: 4 miles, 4 locks. Total distance: 114 miles.   Total locks: 82

We met up with Fran and Vic at their hotel last night and had a lovely meal and a drink or two (or ten!!).

Before going out last night, I turned on the satellite receiver and TV to align the dish so that I could record the apprentice and it came up with good signal level and quality straight away. We obviously have moored the boat pointing in exactly the same direction as it was last night. The chances of that happening are 360:1. Never had that happen before.

Took Fran and Vic to Barton Turn today for a little run on the boat. Stopped on the way back at the Barton Turns pub for lunch. Excellent home cooked meals at very reasonable prices and friendly staff. Now facing the wrong way so tomorrow we will have to go back to Shobnal to turn. Fran and Vic are heading onwards on their holiday tomorrow and we will continue west.

This is a real nice mooring beside the lake, nice and quiet.

Went out to the Blacksmiths Arms for a meal in the evening. Two meals for £9.99. Food was OK but the place got a bit noisy later in the evening as it is frequented by a lot of the local youth.
