Ten Bob Note

17th June 2007

Location: Wolverhampton   N52:36:30 W2:08:43

Today: 4 miles, 2 locks. Total distance: 158 miles.   Total locks: 113

Walked into Coven this morning to get the papers then pulled the pins and headed for Wolverhampton as the weather was nice.

Stopped off on the way to get diesel and to take on water. Needed 68 litres at 50p per litre. 10 litres of the 68 went into the generator.

Moored up at Aldersley junction and walked the two miles along the Birmingham canal to find the builders merchants. Found the merchants no problem, it is right on the side of the canal by lock number one. It is a huge building so must stock loads of stuff. There are 21 locks between the junction and the builders merchants so it is quicker to walk than to go by boat. Will walk back tomorrow to get the stuff we need to sort out the fire place.

So far, no rain today!! Hope it stays dry tomorrow for the walk to the builders merchant.

UPDATE:

A few unsavoury looking characters wandering around close to our mooring. Did not feel comfortable so pulled the pins at around 18:00. Moved the boat back half a mile and moored up close to another boat. It was probably safe enough where we were but it just didn’t feel good. Better to be safe than sorry.
