20th June 2007 Location: Swindon, Staffs N52:30:36 W2:12:15 Today: 5 miles, 11 locks. Total distance: 168 miles. Total locks: 127 Got up this morning a bit on the stiff side from all of the work on the stove yesterday. Must have been up and down the steps a hundred times as I did all of the board and tile cutting outside. Put a coat of paint on the flue and top of stove. Walked into the town to get the papers and some bits and pieces, all in all, a pleasant 3 mile round trip. Put a second coat of paint on the flue. The weather looked reasonable so pulled the pins and headed south to Swindon. Swindon is a small village but it has 3 pubs and a shop that sells most things. I think a pub meal is called for this evening to celebrate the stove being commissioned again. We stopped for lunch along the way and I lit the stove as the paint does not harden properly until it has been cured by the heat from the stove. Today was a good day to do this as we were on the move and we could open all of the windows to let the smell of the curing paint out.
Stove lit to cure the paint, just need tiles over the boarding to finish it Previous page -|- Next page -|- Index page |
