A busy day today. We are now on our way to London down the Grand Union and would like to be there early September so will be pushing on a bit.
Met nb Bendigedig at the bottom of the Stockton flight. They kindly waited for us at a lock that was in our favour, our experience of late is that many boater are in too much of a hurry to honour the ‘saving water’ advice – see British Waterways sign below. Thanks again nb Bendigedig – their blog can be found HERE.
Caught up with a Kate Boat’s hire boat half way up the Stockton flight (nb Edna Marie) they knew we were one lock behind them but pushed on regardless, wasting water and setting every lock against us, all despite the fact that there is a ‘save water’ notice on every lock……..
Arrived at Braunston after 16:00 and were amazed to find a mooring spot, miracles do happen.
I can honestly say that I have never seen so many boats on the move as I did today. We must have passed a good 30 boats heading towards Napton from the Braunston area, can’t think where they could all be coming from and going to???

Blue Lias pub

Signs on all locks requesting that water be saved - some boaters ignore it!!
